Alena furniture is the response to the will of a family who wished to make the most of the under stairs space in their home. Our proposal is to merge the stairs and the piece of furniture into one single piece.

Under stairs storage

Alena furniture is the response to the will of a family who wished to make the most of the under stairs space in their home. They needed to have space to store a stroller and children’s games, keeping the natural light that brightens the entrance.

Our proposal is to merge the stairs and the piece of furniture into one single piece.

Design strategy

The design has a L-shaped configuration. One side welcomes the entrance with space to keep keys and coats. This part also adds lighting. The other side is the part to get ready before leaving the house with a shoe rack, a bench, and a mirror.

Assembly

Furniture that lets natural light in

Responding to all demands in one piece of furniture was a challenges we addressed through geometry. The top follows the stairs’ inclination and is slightly tilted to fit perfectly in the space.
Although the furniture can store different types of objects, the combination of vertical slats and shelves lets natural light in.
